So here we are! It's only taken me a month (if you thought it would take less time than that, you don't know me) but my much-hyped blog is finally here! Hooray!
I wanted to start a blog to document my new life here in the great Lone Star State of Texas and generally keep in touch with friends and family without having to resort to Facebook or (heaven forbid!) the telephone too much ;)
I'm going to be starting slow, and I've got a lot to fill you in on already, but today I mostly wanted to say that I'm very excited to be starting my first proper independent sewing project - the Colette Hazel dress!
Although I've already used a tutorial posted on awesome crafty blog One Pearl Button to re-make a skirt Laura found in a charity shop in Reading (thank you - will put a photo up of the finished product :)), and I've started an evening sewing course at UTA (University of Texas, Arlington) in which I'll be making two skirts (it's a good job the weather's good here, given that I'm soon going to be inundated with skirts), the Hazel dress will be my first foray into the world of solo pattern sewing. I'm pretty excited! I've already ironed my pattern pieces, so tomorrow I'm ready to start chopping up fabric carefully cutting out the pieces from the lovely Anna Maria Horner fabric I bought from Amazon with my birthday vouchers :)
Other than sewing, I've been exploring (a little), walking (a lot), and generally enjoying spending lots of time with my lovely husband. Even if he is a slave to the pedometer :)
I'll post some pictures of things I've seen and done, including what we got up to on my birthday - featuring the place where Chris took me for dinner, the fantastically brilliant Spiral Diner - the only vegan restaurant in Fort Worth (or, as I like to call it, my new favourite restaurant and where I would eat every day if Chris would permit it) :D
Until then!
